Money for Media Projects… One of My Favorite Things.

The Corner: 23rd and Union is a project I worked on last spring with KUOW (local affiliate of NPR) producer Jenny Asarnow. The Corner is/was an interactive public radio documentary and public art project about, for, and created with the corner of 23rd and Union in Seattle’s Central District. You can read more about the The Corner on the project’s website or on the project’s Facebook page.

The project ended in August and in September I submitted a grant to do an expanded video component to the project.

Well, it’s official, the The Corner: 23rd and Union projects has gotten an injection of life sustaining cash to do something new and exciting. I received official notice from the City of Seattle Office of Cultural Affairs a couple of weeks ago that they awarded $8500 to a grant request I submitted. The Working title for the new project is “The Geography of Community”. We are slated to start the project Jan/Feb of 2010. I’ll be posting more about this soon.

This is so exciting!!! Congratulations to both of you!!! I have heard from at least two random women that approached me, how excited they were about opening the conversation up about the “hood”. I’m sure that especially with everything going on right now, there will be great reception for this new addition to your project!

Thank you for your forward movements!
